With its flexible modular system, LiWooD is realizing a school building that offers opportunities for self-development – with open learning spaces, its own school kitchen, a wood and art workshop, and a roof garden.
The implementation of large room sizes is easily achieved in a modular fashion thanks to sophisticated technical solutions. This project is a prime example of inner-city densification. Built above an underground car park, the school building is elevated towards Albert-Schweitzer-Strasse, which continues to allow access to the existing parking spaces. The construction above this underground car park can only be realized through the use of wood as a building material, with its low weight and its simultaneously excellent structural properties.
