The Fürstenried West housing estate in Munich, built in the 1960s and 1970s, currently provides living space for 2,700 people. The existing 1,500 or so rental apartments on the 13.5-hectare residential area of five Versorgungseinrichtungen der Bayerischen Versorgungskammer are now being supplemented by a further 650, based on an overall urban development concept by LIN Architekten.

The densification in the Fürstenried West district comprises 12 new buildings as well as extensions and additions to existing buildings. Liwood is involved in the addition of stories to nine multi-story buildings with its solid wood modules.
The design for this comes from H4a Architekten and Menges Scheffler Architekten. Work has already started on five of the buildings. Four of them are being extended by two stories with eight or seven additional apartments respectively, and one is being extended by one story or six apartments. The additions meet the KfW 55 standard, and the existing buildings are being energetically renovated to achieve KfW 85.
